Steven Schwinn is a frequent commenter on issues related to constitutional law and human rights. He teaches constitutional law, comparative constitutional law, human rights, and a specially designed legal writing class on civil rights.

Schwinn is the founding editor-in-chief of the American Constitution Society Supreme Court Review, an annual publication reviewing cases and issues at the Supreme Court, and co-founder and co-editor of the Constitutional Law Prof Blog. Schwinn is a regular contributor to the American Bar Association Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases, and his legal scholarship on the court and related topics has appeared in a variety of legal journals. 

In the community, Schwinn litigates cases pro bono in the federal courts and works with Chicago-area school teachers, students and nonprofits on outreach and public education related to the U.S. Constitution.
