Join us to #IGNITEGivingTuesday

Tomorrow, we will #IGNITEGivingTuesday.

Together as a community we have celebrated Giving Tuesday for several years, and in many different ways.  Our goal has always been, and remains, your participation.

UIC is able to forge the future of public education because of what you do.  You participate every day in illuminating young minds, fueling discovery and connecting to communities here and afar.  These collective efforts are shaping the future.

Tomorrow we ask that you participate in Giving Tuesday.  Together with our alumni and friends we will demonstrate the tremendous collective power of giving back to UIC.  Every gift of every size truly matters.

This year, your giving includes you as a participant not only in Giving Tuesday, but also IGNITE: The Campaign for UIC.  Your generosity adds to the momentum of the five-year campaign we launched last month, and the impressive progress we’ve made so far toward our ambitious goal.  When the campaign ends, participants will have contributed to the impact we’ll have on our students and faculty, the new knowledge you pursue and communities you serve.

This year our Giving Tuesday Web site allows you to watch each college’s and unit’s success, track the total giving and keep tabs on a leaderboard in real time.  I hope you’ll visit the page to participate in any of these ways:

  • Make a gift at to the areas that are most meaningful to you.
  • After you give, share the news on social media using #IGNITEGivingTuesday and encourage others to follow your lead.
  • Click the social media links on the homepage to share messages encouraging your friends, family and colleagues to participate.
  • Keep tabs on the total giving, and the leaderboards, at  If you’re feeling competitive, encourage your friends, family and colleagues to support your area.

Whether you are an existing donor, considering making your first gift to UIC or simply up for the task of spreading the word, I look forward to your participation as we #IGNITEGivingTuesday tomorrow.
