Meet the ‘I am UIC’ bloggers

Five UIC students share their experiences each week in the “I am UIC” blog.

Holly Brenza (F)
Holly Brenza is a senior majoring in English and minoring in communications and management. In her spare time, Holly enjoys playing with her puppy, Bear, watching the Blackhawks and White Sox, reading and trying out new recipes. After graduation, she hopes to work in public relations.

 

 

Kris Fuentes Cortes (F)

Kris Fuentes Cortes is a senior in communication, a Boston native, an active student around campus, photographer and a dreamer of working in the world of music. She wants to become a tour manager for a band and travel internationally while she’s still young. She’s the assistant marketing director for UIC Radio.

 

 

Sarah Lee (F)

 

Sarah Lee is a junior studying neuroscience and Russian in the GPPA Medicine program. She’s still trying to figure out exactly what she wants to do, but some of  her life goals include running a marathon, exploring Eastern Europe and becoming fluent in Russian. In her free time, she loves running, playing piano and guitar, and reading. A Naperville native, Sarah is a peer mentor in the Courtyard Residence Hall.

 

 

Matthew Maggit (F)
Matthew Maggit is a sophomore in accounting in the College of Business Administration. Matthew decided to come to UIC because of the business program’s reputation and because he wanted to study at a campus with a  diverse atmosphere. He likes how close the campus is to downtown Chicago and the Willis Tower. In his free time, he loves to surround myself with loved ones; he enjoys sports and going to the gym.

 

 

Lauren Muellner (F)Lauren Muellner will receive her master’s degree in early childhood education with an endorsement in special education in December. She is student teaching in a self-contained special education preschool classroom in Oak Park and works as a part-time nanny. Born and raised in Chicago, Lauren likes culture and adventure. She received her bachelor’s degree in theatre from Columbia College Chicago. She plans to integrate music and theatre into her curriculum and teaching.
