No place like home: four Flames teams play host this weekend

It’s a four-sport home weekend for men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball and women’s tennis. UIC students get in free with i-card; $8 general admission for soccer and volleyball. More information on tickets online or 312-413-8421.

 

Women’s tennis

Melika LeBlancThe women’s tennis team hosts the UIC Invitational Friday and Saturday. Action begins at 9 a.m. each day, with the Go and Flames Brackets played at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts and the Blue and Red Brackets at St. Ignatius.

The Flames face opponents from Valparaiso, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green and Milwaukee. Last weekend at the Wildcat Invite, the Flames earned three singles victories and one doubles victory through three days of competition.

 

Men’s soccer

Home from a tough 1-1 draw against Milwaukee Sunday, the Flames face Wright State at 1 p.m. at Flames Field.

 

Volleyball

Alyssa EhrhardtThe squad returns home from a six-game road trip to host defending Horizon League champions Oakland at 4 p.m. in the Flames Athletic Center. In their last match Tuesday, the Flames fell for the first time in Horizon League play 3-1 against Valparaiso.

 

Women’s soccer

UIC’s match against Wright State starts at 7 p.m. at Flames Field. The women came up short in a tough match against Valparaiso Wednesday, 3-1.
