Sophomore Tai Odiase of the men’s basketball team is one of the Horizon League’s top defenders. The Glenwood native ranked as the conference’s second-leading shot blocker during the 2014–15 campaign. In fact, his 48 total blocks on the season ranked second all-time among UIC freshmen and eighth on the program’s single-season leader board.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

A: Go to the gym and get up some extra shots. Away from basketball, I like to play video games.

Q: What is your favorite music?

A: I listen to a lot of rap — Chief Keef,
Future, Drake — and all the mainstream
artists.

Q: What is your favorite movie?

A: The Incredibles.

Q: What is your favorite place to eat around campus?

A: Joy Yee.

Q: What is your favorite thing about UIC?

A: Being close to downtown. It’s less than 15 minutes to shopping, movies and other activities.

Q: Your plans for a career after basketball?

A: I’m studying biology and I want to become an anesthesiologist.
