Social work aide receives merit award

Daisy Chavez, a social work aide in the UIC Division of Specialized Care for Children, received the division’s 2015 Award of Merit and Distinction.

The division has provided specialized care and care coordination for families and children with special health care needs for more than 75 years.

Chavez works in the division’s home care office in Chicago. She was honored for her “positive, can-do attitude with both families and co-workers,” said executive director Thomas Jerkovitz. “She is a wonderful resource for families and her contributions in a time of programmatic change have been invaluable.”
