Spotlight on innovation during Chicago Ideas Week Oct. 13-19
Science, food, fashion, photography, social issues, politics, winemaking — sessions on these topics and more, 144 events in all, will be featured during Chicago Ideas Week Oct. 13-19.
UIC students, faculty and staff can receive 10 percent off tickets by entering promo code UI85TEN when ordering online.
As the gathering’s only academic sponsor, the University of Illinois is hosting two talks, both Oct. 13: a tour of the Electronic Visualization Laboratory on campus and “Science: Your Life Under a Microscope” with Jessica Banks of RockPaperRobot, Charles Spence of Oxford University, Michael McConnell of Stanford University, Adam Rogers, author and Wired editor, and Hakeem Oluseyi, Florida Institute of Technology and the Science Channel’s “Outrageous Acts of Science.
The EVL tour, a repeat of previous years, is sold out but tickets may be available later. Tickets for “Science: Your Life Under a Microscope” are available online.
Chicago Ideas Week is looking for student volunteers to help at the events. Volunteers get free admission to the event, a discount to other events and an invitation to the volunteer reception. Register online.
