Three restaurants to try around Chicago

Spoon and forkThere are three things I look for when I determine whether I like a restaurant – ambiance, food and cost. That being said, here’s my disclaimer: I am not a food critic.

Here are my Top 3 favorite restaurants around Chicago (no particular order).

  1. Grand Lux Cafe: The setting is nice. You have the Magnificent Mile to look at while you’re enjoying your meal. There are sections of the restaurant that are very intimate and sections that are accommodating for large parties. The wait time can be crazy at times, but it is worth the wait. My go-to dishes are the DeLux Drive-In Burger and the Shrimp Fettucine Alfredo. This is one of my restaurants while I’m downtown.
  2. Bubba Gump Shrimp: Located at Navy Pier, this restaurant is amazing, and I’m not just saying that because Forrest Gump is my favorite movie. Bubba would definitely be proud of this restaurant. They have every type of shrimp that you can think of: pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp and much more. At the end of the dinner, the waiter does a little bit of Forrest Gump trivia. I do suggest that you watch the movie before you go to the restaurant to get the full experience – sounds weird, but it’s true.
  3. The Purple Pig: The ambiance of the restaurant literally looks like you just walked into something out of a movie. A perfect setting for a nice date or small party. In addition to the setting, the food is delicious. It’s a little pricey, but I doubt you’ll regret it. This is a beautiful restaurant that I’ve been dying to get back to.

Let me know what other restaurants are out there to visit! I’m always looking to try different places.
