Dear graduates,

Congratulations on your years of hard work and commitment to academic success that have led you to this exciting day.

On behalf of our community of diverse scholars, students and staff, I extend an enthusiastic thank you for your contributions to the university and for choosing to attend UIC. We are proud of our students and all that you have accomplished to arrive at this moment.

You’ve played an important role as UIC continues to grow and gain wider recognition for its standing as Chicago’s only public research university.

Just as the university has grown and gained momentum, so have you.

From humanities to business and urban planning to health care, my hope is that the learning, living, and discovering centered on service to others that you have experienced here will carry on in your personal and professional lives.

I’m confident that as you depart with a UIC degree you are not only poised and primed to tackle new ventures in your career or future studies, but you are also the smart, resilient and global-thinking people needed to address the challenges of our country and world.

Whether you will continue living in the Chicago area or move elsewhere, I encourage you to remain involved in the life of your university. You now join a strong alumni association with a variety of resources and a broad network available to help you navigate your path and continue your engagement with UIC.

Promise yourself to continue learning and discovering, and to come back and share your experiences with the next generation of students. Although your journey as a student here is coming to an end, please remember that you are always welcome at UIC.

Congratulations again! Good luck in your future endeavors.

Go Flames!

Sincerely,

Michael Amiridis
Chancellor
