Red light cameras = safety?: According to a new exploratory study by Rajiv Shah, UIC adjunct assistant professor of communication, there is no evidence Chicago’s red light camera network offers drivers a significant safety benefit. The report by Shah, who researches the use of surveillance technology and red light cameras in Chicago, analyzes accident data and ticket data from 2009 through 2012.
