WOW brings students together

Weeks of WelcomeAs students settle in for fall semester, UIC hosts Weeks of Welcome (WOW), a series of events geared toward helping them “connect and reconnect at UIC.”

“It’s a transition period that provides valuable time to build upon experiences at UIC,” said Sladjana Grbic, assistant program director in the Center for Student Involvement. “With a mix of traditional/standing events and themed events hosted each year, Weeks of Welcome encourages student involvement, school spirit and lifelong memories.”

The series features a wide variety of options that highlight the opportunities that the campus has to offer.

Shivani Modi, a member of the Student Activities Board (SAB), said WOW brings a sense of community and family among students at UIC, especially those who are new to the campus.

“It’s a great way to meet new people,” Modi said. “Students are stressed about being in a new school, and its [Weeks of Welcome] a great start to the weeks.”

UIC Weeks of Welcome began Aug. 22 and continues through Sept. 30. For more information, email the Center for Student Involvement at studentinvolvement@uic.edu.
