Young cancer patients celebrate Thanksgiving early

Patients and families enjoy last year’s pre-holiday celebration


WHAT:

Children’s Hospital University of Illinois will host a Thanksgiving party for more than 120 pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Patients, their siblings, parents and other loved ones will enjoy face painting, photos, games, food and activities at this untraditional pre-holiday party.

Cancer support organizations such as Children’s Oncology Services, Make-A-Wish, Gilda’s Club, Starlight Children’s Foundation, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, CureSearch for Children’s Cancer, Go4the Goal, Flashes of Hope and Girls Scouts will provide information for parents and activities for kids.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, will present a $200,000 check to support Children’s Oncology Group pediatric cancer clinical trials at Children’s Hospital University of Illinois, Rush and Stroger hospitals.
