Michael Reese Professor of Urology and Physiology
Biography
Gail Prins is the director of the andrology laboratory and Michael Reese Professor of Urology and Physiology in the College of Medicine. Her research focuses on the hormonal regulation of prostate gland development and prostate cancer.
Prins has done groundbreaking studies on the connection between prostate cancer and bisphenol-A, or BPA, a common plastic additive found in thousands of consumer products. Her work provided the first direct evidence that early exposure to this hormone-disrupting chemical increases the risk for prostate cancer later in life.
