Ambassador Kennedy to headline study abroad event

The U.S. Department of State and UIC’s Study Abroad Office will host a special campus event Wednesday featuring U.S. Ambassador Caroline Kennedy and Assistant Secretary of State Evan Ryan.

The event takes place at 3:30 p.m. in the Cardinal Room, Student Center East.

Kennedy and Ryan will address UIC students to highlight the role of study abroad in U.S. relations and practical ways students can access global opportunities.

Kennedy will also discuss the importance of U.S.-Japan relations and the strategic value of student exchanges with Japan, and outline how she has made study abroad a top priority for Mission Tokyo.

In conversation with Kennedy and Ryan, Daniel Dunson, a 2016 UIC graduate, and Sheila Kelley, a UIC Honors College junior in political science, will share their personal experiences from studying abroad, demonstrate how study abroad is accessible and affordable, and explain how it enhanced their understanding of global issues.

UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis will deliver welcome remarks.
