CPS seniors prep for college application process

The Illinois College Advising Corps, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and Chicago Public Schools host “College Jump Start,” a four-day workshop to prepare high school seniors for the college application process.

DETAILS:
“College Jump Start” will provide 100 high school seniors from Chicago Public Schools with important resources and skills for a successful college search, the opportunity to experience a major public research university environment, and greater understanding of a college degree’s value.
Workshops will cover subjects such as selecting colleges to apply to, personal statement preparation, financial aid, scholarship research, and more.
University of Illinois President Robert Easter is scheduled to deliver a welcome address to the students Aug. 5 at 9:30 a.m.
The Illinois College Advising Corps, a near-peer college mentoring organization administered by the three campuses of the University of Illinois, is committed to increasing college access and completion for Illinois high school students, particularly those who are low-income, underserved, and first-generation.
