Englewood clinic provides transplant services
Secretary of State Jesse White joins UI Health administrators, patients and caregivers at a ribbon-cutting and open house Aug. 21 to mark the opening of a transplant clinic at Mile Square Health Center Englewood.
“There are about 5,000 people waiting for an organ transplant in Illinois,” White said. “Many of those are now able to receive valuable services in their community, thanks to facilities like the Mile Square Health Center.
“However, let’s continue to encourage friends and family to take a simple step towards ending the waiting of others by signing up to become organ/tissue donors. Just register at www.LifeGoesOn.com.”
The clinic, at 641 W. 63rd St., offers pre- and post-kidney transplant services the fourth Tuesday of every month. To schedule an appointment, call 312-996-6771.
Mile Square is a federally qualified health center managed by UI Health; many of its patients have incomes below the federal poverty level.
The center has 11 additional clinics in the South Shore, Back of the Yards, Englewood and Cicero areas, as well as four school-based health centers associated with the School of Public Health and three UIC College of Nursing clinics that provide primary care for patients with chronic mental illness.
