During Black History Month, Black Students in Business and the College of Business Administration are thrilled to present our new flagship event, “Break Barriers: Build More Black Businesses.”

This four-week summit will spotlight various domains of business success, with a focus on supporting Black entrepreneurship.

Please be advised that The Roots and Wings Pitch Competition is open only to members of Black Students in Business.
 
Below is the schedule for the summit:
 
Week 2
Learn 1 On 1
Workshops
Feb. 13
5-7 p.m.
603 SCE
Students will attend one of the four workshops with experts, where they learn how to find their ideal target market, set up their LLC, maximize social media for their business or perfect their business pitch.

Week 3
“Roots & Wings” Pitch Competition
Feb. 20
5-7 p.m.
603 SCE

Students in the Black Students in Business community will take the stage to compete for prizes across three categories that support their business aspirations.

Week 4
Black Marketplace Party: Shop Our Vendors
Feb. 29
Noon-4 p.m.
Illinois Room AB, SCE

To wrap up our summit, Black Students in Business, in collaboration with the Black Student Union, will host the inaugural Black Marketplace Party for all UIC Black students to showcase and sell their goods and services.

There will also be food, music, and prizes. Please come out to support the vendors and have fun as we conclude Black History Month.
