E2S Climate Hub Paths Towards Sustainable and Just Community Engagement

Date / Time

October 7, 2022

12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In spring 2022, along with Urban Growers Collective and UIC-PACT, an open forum E2S (Energy, Environment and Sustainability) Climate Hub: Paths Toward Sustainable and Just Community Engagement was held in Auburn Gresham. The goal was to share findings from the Accelerating University-Community Partnerships for Climate Justice project and begin exploring community-centered solutions to navigating university barriers that hinder reciprocal and long-term university-community partnerships. Based on discussions, it was evident that research academic institutions like UIC need to move toward transparent, accountable and accessible processes that are campuswide.

To continue our efforts, a second forum will be held Oct. 7, E2S Climate Hub: Paths Toward Sustainable and Just Community Engagement Part 2, to advance the process of creating equitable pathways for university-community engagement guided by community feedback and long-term partnerships. The purpose of this forum is to bring UIC faculty, staff, students and community members together to cease siloed progress and unify efforts toward equitable community engagement.
