“Growing Up Chicago” is a book published in May 2023 by Northwestern University Press, edited by UIC English Professor David Schaafsma, Roxanne Pilat and Lauren DeJulio Bell, and featuring the coming-of-age stories of 20 authors focusing on particular neighborhoods, featuring a range of identities. Many of these authors have UIC histories, as well. Part of the event will include roundtable discussions with the authors and editors about the book. Refreshments will be served. Book signing and sales will be part of the event, which is in part a campus book publication celebration.
