Biography
Sociologist Amanda Lewis examines the racial gap in academic achievement; how race shapes educational opportunities; and how ideas about race are negotiated in everyday life.
Her work studies diverse suburban schools and the racial achievement gap, pointing to factors within schools that bring about the disparity. She also studies unconscious racism in schools.
