Byrne Interchange construction, now streaming live

Watch the construction of the new flyover structure on the Jane Byrne Interchange, from northbound I-90/94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) to westbound I-290 (Eisenhower Expressway) via the Urban Transportation Center’s webcam atop University Hall.

Scheduled to be completed in 2017 at a cost of $475 million, the Byrne Interchange reconstruction includes the overhauling of the Morgan, Peoria and Halsted Street bridges spanning the Eisenhower Expressway (Interstate 290), new highway ramps, new sound-abatement walls and new landscaping.

The center, in the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs, installed the camera last spring in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Transportation, which is managing the reconstruction.
