Morgan bridge reopening, Peoria closing now set for June 9
Due to weather and construction problems, the closing of the Peoria Street CTA Blue Line station and the reopening of the Morgan Street station are now scheduled for June 9.
The closing and reopening of the bridge and CTA stations was originally scheduled for June 2. Once the Peoria Street Bridge is closed, work is set to continue until Dec. 31.
Congress Parkway east of Racine Avenue, between the UIC parking structure and Morgan Street, is scheduled to be closed Wednesday and Thursday as contractors pour new pavement. Drivers in the parking structure can leave by the Harrison Street exit. Drivers in Parking Lot 9 can access the lot from Harrison Street.
The entrance to CUPPA Hall may be blocked until June 27 by Commonwealth Edison work.
The Illinois Department of Transportation will install temporary lighting on Peoria Street in front of CUPPA Hall.
IDOT officials also said lights will be added to the Morgan Street CTA station entrance and platform.
The work is part of the Circle Interchange reconstruction project by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
