Online health informatics grad program No. 2 nationwide

UIC’s online health informatics program has gained another plaudit.

The master’s degree program in the College of Applied Health Sciences was ranked second in the U.S. by TheBestSchools.org. The organization ranked 25 such programs around the country.

Programs were selected based on quality, courses offered, awards, rankings, faculty, academic standing and reputation.

Earlier this year, U.S. News and World Report ranked UIC’s online bachelor’s degree programs in health information management and nursing second in the nation, up from ninth in 2014 and 18th in 2013.

The health informatics degree is the first online graduate program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.

“The program offers a great curriculum, and the faculty conduct cutting edge research to help advance the field of health informatics,” said Andy Boyd, assistant professor of academic internal medicine and biomedical and health information sciences.”

Graduates of the program can become certified and registered as health information administrators, a growing career field concerned with keeping patient data secure.
