Noted jazz trombonist kicks off UIC jazz festival to open concert season

Premier jazz trombonist Robin Eubanks will perform with the UIC Jazz Ensemble in the evening concert of the annual UIC High School Jazz Festival — the first of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s 2015 evening concerts.

DETAILS:

Eubanks has recorded seven albums of his original music. He has collaborated with B.B. King, the Rolling Stones, Talking Heads, Art Blakey, Sun Ra, Barbra Streisand, McCoy Tyner, Grover Washington, the Mingus Big Band,  Elvin Jones and Eddie Palmieri. He won Grammy Awards for his performances on Michael Brecker’s “Wide Angles” and Dave Holland’s “What Goes Around.”

He regularly performs with his two groups, EB3 and Mental Images, and with the critically acclaimed Dave Holland Quintet and Big Band, of which he was an original member.
