Opening reception: April 23, 7:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Doug Fogelson Studio
1821 West Hubbard St., #208

DETAILS:

“Water in Art” is presented online and features 15 artists whose works involve topics such as sustenance, mythology, meditation, recreation and satire.

As comment on the societal impact of climate change, either directly or indirectly, the exhibition deals with issues to be discussed at the “Water After Borders” summit and serves as an example of how culture intervenes in questions of environmental health and justice.

The reception event will showcase a combination of original art, video projections, printed or projected reproductions and supporting materials such as artist-produced books.

Participating artists include Marissa Lee Benedict, Luftwerk, Andy Hall, Lee Tracy, Inigo Manglano-Ovalle, Jenny Kendler, Kim Harty, Industry of the Ordinary, Jin Lee, John Opera, Kevin J. Miyazaki, Jessica Pierotti, Daniel Shea, Kim Fisher and Doug Fogelson, who is also the exhibition curator.

The reception is free and open to the public. For more information, call (773) 848-1303.

“Water After Borders,” which takes place April 23-24 at UIC, will bring together government officials, organization leaders and environmental experts from the U.S., Canada and the Middle East. The summit features panels and working groups that focus on strategies for sharing water across political, geographical and cultural boundaries.
